Northwest Ohio Credit Unions Sponsor "Shred For Hunger"
The Credit Unions of Northwest Ohio have partnered with Kroger, and AllShred Services, Inc., to host a community shred event and food drive. Receive FREE destruction of your personal documents, and help families in need, by donating non-perishable foods.
All food donations will be given to the food pantry at Family House. Family House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing homeless families in crisis with professional, comprehensive housing and social services in a safe, caring environment.
"Credit Unions Shred for Hunger" will be held on Saturday, April 28th, 2012, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at the following area Kroger locations:

Suburban Federal Credit Union Annual Meeting

We invite you to attend the Annual Meeting on April 22, 2012 from 12:30-2:30 PM in the O'Grady Community Center at Little Flower Church. It's FREE and exclusively for our members. We will hold a brief meeting and the results of the election to the Board of Directors will be announced, along with a review of 2011. The Board of Directors is comprised of members like you, elected to their positions by the members. If you wish to run for a position on the Board, the requirements are:
- Must be a member in good standing.
- Cannot be a spouse or member of any financial institution in direct competition with Suburban FCU.
- Cannot be a spouse or member of the same household or an employee of Suburban FCU.
- Resumes for consideration must be received by April 6, 2012. Resumes must include work and home phone numbers.

The Northwest Chapter of the Ohio Credit Union Leauge has entered into an arrangement with the Toledo Walleye Hockey Club for our members to purchase discounted tickets to any regular season home game. Phishing Scam - Please Read First Data has learned of a widespread telephone phishing scam. Cardholders may receive what appear to be automated phone calls or texts, telling them that their ATM/Debit cards are locked.
Details
The automated message requests call recipients to "Press 1" where they are to enter their 16-digit card number into their telephone key pad. Once this is entered, the scammers are then requesting the cardÂ’s Personal Identification Number (PIN). The scam artists are attempting to obtain customer card numbers and PINs in order to gain access to customer accounts via ATMs or POS (point of sale) purchases.
Summary
First Data and the STAR Network understand that financial institutions will not request card, account information or PIN numbers from cardholders over the phone. In many cases, phishing scams, whether by phone or through emails, attempt to gain personal information from the call or email recipients such as:
- First and Last Name
- Debit Card or ATM Card Number
- Debit or ATM Card Personal Identification Number (PIN)
- Date of Birth
- Social Security Number
- Account Number and/or Account Type
If your institution receives calls or texts that you suspect are phishing attempts, please capture as much information as you can, including the phone number from which they received the call or text. Once the information is gathered, please send an email to the following security email for investigation: phishing@firstdata.com.
